  • Jeffrey R. Berney, MD

    Dr. Berney completed his undergraduate degrees in biology and natural science at Midland Lutheran College and received his Medical Degree from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in Omaha. He completed his residency in family medicine at the University of Nebraska College of Medicine and the “Accelerated Family Practice Fellowship”. Dr. Berney also completed a one year procedural fellowship. Dr. Berney enjoys patients of all ages but has a special interest in family practice, obstetrics, pediatrics, and sports medicine. He has specialized training in endoscopy procedures and allergy. He has been involved on a number of boards including Nebraska Teammates Advisory, the YMCA of the Prairie, the Phelps Memorial Health Center, and the American Legion. Dr. Berney is married with three children and enjoys spending time with his family, hunting, exercise, and sports of all kinds. He and his family are active members of their church. Dr. Berney has donated his time on medical mission trips to Jamaica.

  • Scott M. Ehresman, MD

    Dr. Ehresman received his undergraduate degree in biology from Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma, and received his Medical Degree from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in Omaha. He completed his residency in family medicine at the Lincoln Medical Education Foundation. Dr. Ehresman was recently awarded the Excellence in Clinical Teaching Award from the UNMC for his work with the university and our students. He was also honored as the 2005 – 2006 Theodore H. Koefoot Jr., MD Outstanding Preceptor in Family Medicine for Nebraska. He enjoys patients of all ages, with special interests in family practice, obstetrics, pediatrics, and sports medicine. He enjoys many sports including tennis, golf, hunting, fishing, and most importantly, spending time with his family. Dr. Ehresman is the proud father of three grown children, grandfather of seven grandchildren, and is active in his church. Dr. Ehresman has donated his time on a medical mission trip to Haiti.

  • Shane M. Smith, MD

    Dr. Smith received appointments to both the West Point Military Academy and the United States Air Force Academy. He elected to pursue his love of soccer and accepted a varsity soccer scholarship at Metropolitan State College in Denver where he received the Phillip’s 66 Athletic Scholar Award presented to the highest achieving male athlete in the Rocky Mountain Conference and the Richard M. Fontera Award which recognized him for having the highest cumulative GPA for all athletes at Metropolitan College. Upon graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in biology from Metropolitan State College, Dr. Smith received his Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Iowa. He completed his internship and residency at North Colorado Family Medicine in Greeley, Colorado. Dr. Smith has an interest in primary care for patients of all ages. He is trained in family practice, obstetrics, pediatrics, and geriatrics. He also has specialized training in cesarean births and endoscopy procedures. Dr. Smith has three children. His interests and hobbies include spending time with his family, golfing, hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling.

  • Kathryn C. Thelen, DO

    Dr. Thelen completed her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and earned her Master’s in Bioethics and her Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from the Kansas City University of Medicine & Biosciences. Dr. Thelen performed her residency with Lincoln Medical Education Partnership for Family Medicine. Dr. Thelen enjoys a variety within her practice and has dedicated her education to work with patients of all stages of life. She specializes in Family Medicine, women’s health, obstetrics (OB), pediatrics, and geriatrics. In addition, Dr. Thelen also practices osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMT) which can aid with back pain, tension headaches, and other musculoskeletal issues. She enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and dog while spending time outdoors, running, golfing, boating, playing the saxophone, and cheering on the Huskers, Royals, and Chiefs.

  • Mallory Haas, PA-C

    Mallory Haas (maiden name Murdoch) earned her undergraduate degree in human biology from Chadron State College where she graduated Magna Cum Laude, was awarded Outstanding Achievement in Human Biology and was the Platinum Eagle award recipient. Haas then attended the University of Nebraska Medical Center to earn her Masters of Physician Assistant Studies with academic excellence and was the UNMC Rural Health Student Representative. PA-C Haas is trained in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, and Women’s Health and is active with the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Mallory grew up near Orleans, Nebraska, and currently lives in Holdrege with her husband and daughter, who farms on a family farm near Orleans, and two miniature dachshunds. She is one of the Holdrege Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) leaders, an elementary Sunday school teacher, and enjoys spending time traveling, gardening, hiking, biking and occasionally taking on a slope or two while skiing.

  • Charles Christie, PA-C

    PA-C Christie received his undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Nebraska at Omaha where he was honored as the Outstanding Biology Undergraduate. He received his Masters of Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in Omaha, graduating with distinction. PA-C Christie completed his clinical rotations at the University of Nebraska College of Medicine and at a number of rural Nebraska healthcare facilities. He is a volunteer with the American Diabetes Association and was honored as the 2017 Physician Assistant of the Year from the Nebraska Academy of Physician Assistants. He is married, has three sons, and enjoys golf, baseball, and spending time with his family. He is a U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force veteran and served in Iraq in operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Mr. Christie was honored by the U.S. Air Force by being awarded the prestigious “Military Citizen Award”.

    Certified Physician Assistant

    Katie Luthy earned her undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Wyoming. She received a Masters in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. PA-C Luthy is trained in family medicine, pediatrics, geriatrics, cardiology, women’s health, emergency medicine, cosmetology, and aesthetics including Botox and Juvaderm, as well as other areas of health care. She is open to patients of all ages. She was the recipient of the Physician Assistants Academic Excellence Award at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
